What Is Burnout And How Does CBD Relate To It?

What ties Moses, Goethe, and van Gogh together? Any thoughts? No need to worry if nothing comes to mind; we’ve got you covered. At least some authors these days are saying that they all suffered from burnout.

Have you ever experienced burnout? Burnout can occur when we are overwhelmed by our daily responsibilities and workload. The effect can be workplace dissatisfaction, mental depletion, or flat-out exhaustion.

What Is Burnout?

The earliest investigations on the phenomenon of burnout were done in the 1960s and 1970s. The initial literature on the topic mostly addressed human service workers, such as probation officers and nurses.

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that burnout only relates to events in the context of the workplace and should not be used to represent experiences in other spheres of life. Chronic, work-related stress that a person can no longer manage is considered the main cause of burnout.

The three primary signs of burnout, according to the WHO, are as follows:

  1. Feelings of lack of energy or exhaustion
  2. Increased mental distance to oneโ€™s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to oneโ€™s job
  3. A sense of inefficiency and reduced professional efficacy

When we become overloaded and experience burnout, it can feel like there is no way to surface from the stress and pressure on us. There are a couple of ways you can work towards recovering from the impact of burnout.

For starters, you can structure your day with a goals list, prioritise the most important goals and remember to set realistic time frames for your goals. You can also keep an eye on the big picture and remember there is more to life than work. Take time for mental health breaks where you do something you love, like exercise or going for a walk. Lastly, it can be very beneficial to introduce CBD to your daily routine to help balance your health and wellness.

Although a burnout is frequently compared to a dead battery, a bank account would be a better metaphor since, unlike an empty battery, which just runs out of power, you can frequently access your line of credit with a bank account when you need it. In other words, just like with burnout, you will occasionally go above your limit and overdraw your account.

Why Is CBD Helpful For Burnout?

When burnt out, we can often negate the need for our bodies and minds to be well supported. CBD can be a helpful tool to support us through burnout or to help maintain us as we avoid burn out.

When we use CBD products, we support the endocannabinoid system, which is connected to all primary functions and areas of our bodies. By using CBD, we support this system and encourage healthier functionality and better holistic wellness. We want to make it absolutely clear CBD does not serve as a treatment or in any way solve the underlying problem.

There’s nothing wrong with anything that makes you feel good and a little more at ease, of course. However, you should take care of yourself before burnout sets in. To deal with all of the demands of daily life, numerous little, proactive actions are required. The only thing we can advise is to proceed if you discover that CBD is one of those stages and improves your mood.

Here at Holistic Hemp Scotland, we care about helping you and your family find healthy and sustainable ways to keep mentally and emotionally balanced.
